Boro refers to antique Japanese utilitarian textiles that people mended over and again to preserve and reinforce. The repetitive mending created abstract compositions that are now very fashionable on garments.

Bring any textile piece that needs some TLC and learn some simple techniques to give your personal item a new life. No experience necessary. Whether you are looking to - learn the art of visible mending, - repair or update your favorite jeans, - take a break from the news, or - connect with other creatives, this will be a fun opportunity to slow down and escape your routine for a few hours while making something with your hands!

Where: Stitch and Stickle Studio at Atlantic Works 80 Border Street, #309 East Boston, MA 02128

Parking available on a first come first serve basis and there's usually ample parking in the evenings and weekends. The studio is a 5 minute walk from the Maverick Square T stop.

Cost: $65 per person

The cost of the workshop includes:

  • Materials: needles, threads, some fabric pieces to use as patches; 
  • Demo of various mending techniques such as simple sashiko stitch, darning, weaving, patching; 
  • Drinks and nibbles; 
  • Inspiration from books, samples, other creatives like you Workshop fees are not refundable unless the event is cancelled. 

Most items are made to order and may take up to 2 weeks to ship. We’re happy to accommodate faster turn around times when possible. Please let us know if you’re on a tight deadline and we'll do our best to accommodate. In-stock items ship within 3 business days.

All items ship Priority Mail or UPS Ground. Priority Mail now includes a delivery confirmation tracking number from USPS, but does not include insurance.

Please contact us at the time of purchase to request the package to be insured as it needs to be done at the time of shipping. Stitch and Tickle is not responsible for any loss or damage during transit.
