Artist Spotlight: Maria Malatesta

We're thrilled to introduce a new line of Color Field paintings by Boston artist Maria Malatesta.

Maria received the Diploma and Fifth Year Certificate from the School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston and a Bachelor of Science from Lesley College, Cambridge MA. She also studied at University of California at Davis. For the past 10 years she has studied with Timothy Hawkesworth in Pennsylvania. She has also taken numerous painting trips to Italy.

Describing her painting style, Maria says "

Wild gardens, overgrown fields, oceans, wind and air inspire my work. The colors and movements of nature intuitively find their way into the paintings. While intuition leads the work, color relationships, space and light are important to me. I want the paintings to be experiential. I want them to be somewhere that feels familiar even though these are not real places."
